Assistive Devices Print E-mail

The two major types of assisted hearing devices are hearing aids and cochlear implants. Both of these devices are not "cures" for deafness. For some people in the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities, these devices can improve their awareness of sound and their ability to interpret those sounds. Many deaf people, however, do not care to wear hearing aids and can be strongly opposed to cochlear implants. (Cochlear implants are not currently available in Kenya.)
